Good Deed of the Morning
Planned Parenthood is preparing to open a large clinic in Aurora, IL, but not without some warm welcomes from the anti-choice folks.
Loads of protestors have been outside of the clinic for nearly two weeks, and Planned Parenthood has made a call to action. Get a ribbon of support tied outside the clinic to show the clinic and women seeking care some solidarity.

PP was the only clinic that was willing to help me when I needed MAP a few years ago. Their EC hotline was a godsend. Signing their petition is the very least I can do to show my appreciation.
Sent a ribbon. I wish I had some cash to send as well.
PP deserves all of the support it can get. Thanks for letting us know about this...I'll have to send over some cash as well.
I definitely put my ribbon up. I love PP! They have always been there for me with a smile and without judgment.
I live not 10 minutes from the new facility and it is such a welcome addition to our community, I can't even begin to express my excitement about it. I'll be picking up my yard sign this evening. I just wish I knew what to say to protesters outside of it... "Don't you GET IT?!?" doesn't seem to work with that crowd...
@lilianna28:
I think a very loud Oh For Fuck's Sake would be about as eloquent as I could get when met with that level of knuckle-dragging stupidity.
I live in Chicago, are there any counter demonstrations planned? Or anything else locals can do? I wouldn't mind making the drive to represent, but I'm not local enough for a yard sign to be effective.
(I also sent a ribbon.)
Shinobi, I'm a volunteer for Planned Parenthood Chicago Area. I've been learning about this exciting new (huge!) clinic for a few months now. Yes, they need a lot of volunteer help for this new clinic. I don't want to list exactly what they need help doing (in case some anti-choicers come across this), but please email the volunteer coordinator on this page and tell them you want to help out with the Aurora clinic. They will be so pleased!
I don't know if I could volunteer, as my work schedule changes every week, but I would love to be part of a counter-demonstration, if anyone knows when that is.
And I sent a ribbon, obviously
JenLovesPonies - some of the volunteer activities they need people for are a one-off thing, some are administrative, and some are more active, outdoor type of stuff. PP will take whatever hour(s) you can give them!
Sent a ribbon, sent some cash, would also be willing to help out as a volunteer, so thanks for the links, StringBeanJen! I love Planned Parenthood.
I grew up in Aurora. I think I may give back to my community:) Yay for Planned Parenthood!
I know the area is considered conservative (although I think the media is, not the community) but there's a newspaper poll that shows 75-25 AGAINST Planned Parenthood? Look here and vote (it's on the right side halfway down the page)
