I read the article in Bitch Magazine and I totally --like many other woman --felt very identified with the descriptions and many of the ideas brought up in the article. I congratulate Courtney because she really nailed the topic and hopefully we dont all read it (the book or the article) once but twice or three times 'till we really do undestand that we dont need to be priving ourselves from hapiness once we accept ourselves completely and unconditinally .

I have to say how blown away I am by this book. I picked it up on a whim and didn't expect much (I think I thought it was just about eating disorders, so wasn't too interested) but it is about so much more and it is fantastic.

Wow!

Originally I did not want to read this book because I thought it was about eating disorders, and they depress me, and I have read about them a lot for class and on my own...however, from the book reading you can see it is about so much more...WOW can't wait to go buy it and support this wonderful book and author, thanks for posting the video!

what a beautiful writer, and she nails the topic right on the head as JaviitaVi said

i have very little patience for self indulgent 'listen to your inner child' crap, so i had low expectations when i listened to the piece.

Then i realized that she was describing MY life & MY hungers and my internal stressors and fault lines and schisms. My drive and my self destructiveness. My ambition and my self sabotage.

i guess i'll be swinging by a bookstore tonight. i'm looking forward to reading this.

While I was reading this book, there were so many moments where I would think, "Holy crap, this is ME. These are my thoughts, this is what I do," etc. etc., so needless to say, I am a huge fan. It's such an important book, especially if you've ever struggled with food issues (but who hasn't?) - I'm even making my fiance read it.

So thank you, Courtney. You've helped me so much, and I'm just so glad someone articulated all of this crap in such a thoughtful manner.

It's amazing how something so specific and defined (as the dichotomy outlined in the book excerpt) can be so universal and relatable.
