Judge in Tiller case has anti-choice history
(So I'm kind of freaking out that there is WiFi on the ferry from Martha's Vineyard, but pleased that I can bring you at least one post today!)
It seems that the judge in the witch-hunt, uh--I mean case, against Dr. Tiller was once a "staunch anti-abortion state lawmaker."
The judge who will decide the case — Sedgwick County District Judge Anthony Powell — was a leading voice for anti-abortion lawmakers during his eight years as a legislator. Powell was appointed to the case this week.
Well that sounds fair.

Oh fucking hell.
Keep sending those donations, people. It looks like Tiller is going to need all the help he can get.
The most rage-inducing part is that:
So how on earth Judge Powell was assigned is beyond me.
This I wonder: is this judge leaning toward the "pro-life" movement because of his intepretations of the law, or is he such because of his personal convictions and religious beliefs.
It always makes me wonder how a person can separate the personal and political in matters like that.
I guess it IS true that the personal is political. The more reasons to put more women (and feminists) in public offices.
