Thank you for posting this! This brought me back to the summer going into 8th grade. It's amazing how the brain retains lyrics that go unsung for over a decade to then be spontaneously belted out in the early morning hours.

I miss the 80s, and have 10 videos (11, counting the Quiet Riot link) to prove it. They all pretty much rule, and there's even Afrika Bambaataa.

Who needs those specialized self-love posts? Not I!

Whoa! How did this ever slip past me back in the day? This is awesome.

My favorite part is the lone sax player...man, did the 90's rule.

I miss this Queen Latifah - Covergirl ads just don't convey her real personality. Maybe they should create a Covergirl ad based around the "I'm not a bitch or a hoe" mantra.

I love Queen Latifah. I also love the denim Blossom hat she's wearing, too.

Totally love the song! I also love the fact that she is able to keep her clothes on and still be considered cool!

This is actually one of my first memories of really noticing female empowerment in music. When I was a kid it really stood out among other stuff on MTV. Thanks so much for posting this, I doubt I would have had a chance to see it again otherwise

a little before my time...but such a cool song and video! Queen Latifah is awesome. Thanks for sharing! :)

Thanks for posting that! Awesome. I wonder how that one slipped by me back then? Wow...time flies...90's music is already on some retro lists.

I miss the '90s, too. Something about the bright colors, the house music, and the overalls with just one strap snapped seems positively quaint to me now.

Love Latifah, love her hoodie, and love the fact that she shot that video in Newark. That is all.

this should be followed up by two shots of Ms. Dynamite

Love that song! Memories.....

Thanks for posting.

I loved that song when I was 14! Thanks for the memories. However, I remember thinking the lyrics were, "You're not a bitch, you're a ho." That was confusing.

God, I must be sheltered, because I'm a child of the 90s and I've never heard this song before. I mean, I knew Queen Latifah was awesome, but not THIS awesome! Thanks for the vid!

Really wasn't into hip hop much in the 90's. Brief TLC period but that was really it. Always did like Queen Latifah though, she has a great attitude. Thanks for the link, just makes me like her more!

oh man i never saw this! i love it!! heh i really love queen latifah...like...a lot.

and i know this doesnt directly relate, BUT...if anyone has listened to the chicago soundtrack (a movie in which she was fabtacular), there's a rap version of "cell block tango" thats really cool. now granted, i'm not condoning murdering your husband if he cheats on you, BUT...its still pretty awesome.

i give you sample lyrics:

I mean imagine, why was he hittin' his woman?
Why was she takin' that?
Now picture her fightin' back, picture the ass kickin'
Think of his ass flippin' down the stairs
And me at the top smilin', he shoulda stopped wildin'
Now could you picture me tryin' to finish him off?
See why I pictured me on this side of the law?
High heels leave holes, you'd a thought I was gunnin'
Now the cops comin', I ain't runnin'
(He had it comin')

Heh...again, not condoning murder...but cmon, doesnt that bring a smile to your face? lol

I can't wait for the 90s to come back!

And those Ms. Dynamite videos were awesome as well.
