Doonesbury takes on sexual assualt in Iraq.

Good stuff. This has apparently been an ongoing story in Trudeau's most recent strips.
Big ups to Sarah D.

The Savannah Morning News puts Doonesbury on the opinion page rather than with the rest of the comics. I guess they're afraid the simple minded Savannahians are going to be offended by the truth.
I've been a fan of Doonesbury for a long time, because Garry Trudeau's been great at addressing issues like the Iraq War and gay rights. This story line is one of the most admirable I've read from him.
This story line has been great, it's part of a larger story dealing with a group of recent veterans dealing with PSTD and various injuries. It's been going on for awhile, so I'm not remembering this completely, but when the character that is the assault victim was first introduced another character asked about she was to a therapist or maybe another patient. He's response to her trauma being sexual assault was something along the lines of it being the greatest crime of all as it was perpetrated by the people she should have been able to trust the most.
Liza: Doonesbury has been on the opinion page for decades, and I live in a blue state.
(Not saying that it's right, just that your area isn't being singled out.)

The Savannah Morning News runs Doonesbury? Man, I might have to get a subscription when I get back then.
The San Jose Mercury News also used to run Doonesbury (and Mallard Fillmore, ew), along with the Boondocks (I'm so sad it ended), on the Opinions page, next to the political cartoons... However, they haven't done so in years.
I've been really impressed with Doonesbury's veterans series, and this one raises the bar.
The Winnipeg Free Press used to run Doonesbury on the opinion page. They switched a few years back, so now it's on the comics page. The Winnipeg Sun only runs shit like B.C. (I think they used to run Lio, but apparently it stimulated kids' imagination.)
