kindly kiss my ass! awesome:)
I'm trying to reach out to all the blogs I read that have smart, prochoice authors.
I just learned (via NFPRHA) that Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) is poised to offer an amendment today to the LHHS spending bill (HR 3043) that would prohibit Planned Parenthood from receiving Title X funding. This amendent would effectively defund 13 percent of Title X family planning clinics and threaten access to family planning services for millions of low-income women and men.
Please reach out and urge your Representatives to vote NO on the Pence amendment. You can find your representatives by going to Project Vote Smart and entering your nine digit zip code. If you don't know it, go to www.usps.com to look it up.
Additionally, last night Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH) attempted to offer an amendment that would have prohibited Title X clinics from receiving Title X funding if they were found to have violated state laws with respect to reporting child abuse, molestation, rape, or incest. The amendment was withdrawn after Chairman Obey raised a point of order against the amendment.
Another amendment by Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA) was accepted. The amendment would prohibit federal funds to states to establish or implement madatory HPV vaccination laws. We believe the amendment could severely limit access to the HPV vaccine for low-income families who rely on Medicaid, SCHIP, or the Vaccines for Children program in order to obtain the vaccine. Efforts are already underway to strip this language during conference.
If you have time to post this, or to urge friends to call, I'd be appreciative. Please feel free to send around widely.
Thanks, Vanessa!
Yay for Irish!
But of course!
Um can i just say something ok? lol
i went to the feministe blog, and I cannot like or even look at the picture of a lil girl.....holding a gun?...I mean we r feminist but are we also pro-violence? I dont think so. And if they used that picture for a purpose, you are more then welcome to say why you chose THAT one.
What makes you think she's not using it for target practice?
