Anyone in LA?

ladyparty.jpg

Cause I'm going to be there thanks to the fabulous Jill Soloway and OBJECT. Come say hi and have a drink with me.

This event looks so great! I love the idea for this group. If i were in CA, i'd be there. in the meantime, i'll find out if they're doing anything in nyc.

I'm totally there!

is there any more information about this? is it 21+?

Yeah, I can't actually read the flyer and there's nothing on the Object website calender, do you have the address Jill?

You can be any age, and here is the large version of the invite.

f*ck christopher hitchens, indeed.

What's Christopher Hitchens done to deserve a "F--k Christopher Hitchens" show, anyway?

Yeah, what did Christopher do?

He wrote an article about how women aren't funny. You can find it in feministing archives.

I'm there!

So awesome! I can't wait! I'm always sad all the events posted here are always in NY/DC... hell yeah LA!

Let's see. There's Jessica, Jill Soloway, AND an all-girl Journey tribute band? I am so there!

Hooray, an LA event! Although I wish it could be on the west side instead of all the way out in Echo Park (damn LA traffic...)

Still, I'll try to make it! That's the night before my birthday -- anyone wanna buy me a drink? ;)

If I am alive, I will be there with your book in hand.

"Slower to get it, more pleased when they do, and swift to locate the unfunny—for this we need the Stanford University School of Medicine? And remember, this is women when confronted with humor. Is it any wonder that they are backward in generating it?"

Okay so I liked Christopher Hitchens but this article is fucked up. The only thing I can think to excuse him is that he must have been wasted (the man has said he works drunk). The best part is when he admits that there are some good female comedians out there but most are "hefty or dykey or Jewish, or some combo of the three" like that somehow makes them less female.

Waah, I wish I could come to this.... a Journey cover band??! YES!! The flyer artwork is great, too.

I'm nowhere near L.A., but I just wanted to comment that that graphic is lovely. I especially like the dragonflies.

I wish! For the record, I quite enjoy the "Fuck Christopher Hitchens" part of that poster.

Um, also, for those who don't know, Hitchens is a douchebag. A self-important douchebag. In a stupor of self-delusion, he christened himself the new Orwell and lashed out at the left and jumped into bed with the Straussian neocons in their Iraq experiment. How'd that work out, Hitch, you fucker?

...his views on God do kick ass, though.

I'm so excited that some of the regular commenters will be there--it will be so kick-ass to meet you all!
