Uh, there’s an unexplained moment of silence. I thought I’d blacked out for a minute. Kucinich sees peace as the central issue of our time. That would be nice. Code Pink seems to like Kucinich. A lot.. He’s fired up. It’s a little early for me. He wants to create a cabinet level department of Peace and Non-Violence, including dealing with domestic violence and child abuse. This isn’t just a political matter, it’s a spiritual principle. Damn hippies (I’m kidding, settle down patchouli breath).
Good phrase: “Twin threats of global warming and global warring. he really gets the crowd going with talk about marriage equality and making abortion less necessary with universal health care. The big close? "America, America, America!"
I know you want it. The song is “Coming to America. He says he chose it because we need to reconnect with the welcoming spirit of America. I'm pretty sure he was the only one to put his song in context, and I appreciate that.
I'm going to two more sessions then heading back to work. I'll do a full Take Back America wrap-up later in the day.

Fun fact about Kucinich that few people seem to know: He has one of the most solid anti-choice voting records of either party. Until.. oh, about the time he ran for the democratic nomination in 2004.
He voted for the "partial birth abortion" ban, voted for the ban on federal money for international family planning organizations, yes on the fetal victims of crime bill, yes on criminalizing transport of minors across state lines for an abortion. Twice he got 0% from NARAL and got 90% from the national right to life committee.
But then he had a change of heart, I'm sure in no way related to his running for president. I'm sure now he has a deep an abiding commitment to respecting women's reproductive rights.
thank you syntyche.
I thought that I was the only one who had that opinion of Kucinich.
He's a vegan too. I  Kucinich.
Please recheck Kucinich's voting record. He made his transition from pro-life to pro-choice longer ago than is being portrayed here.

What it says there reflects nearly OPPOSITE what you assert here. What matters to me is that he's pro-choice NOW.
Yes, but you have to be extremely careful about flip-floppers, no matter how long ago it may have been. Politicians say so much bull during campaigns - I wouldn't trust someone with my precious vote, since I only get one, on someone who may decide he likes pro-life agendas better in the midst of his term. I don't trust that.
Calling a government department anything that sounds like "Ministry of Peace" is politically unwise. That is, if politicians still read 1984.
Dennis told me in the CHATBOX on his site where a few of us supporters were having a heated debate on abortion (I was the only woman there) that abortions should be safe, legal and RARE. His take on the issue is that if the social programs are already in place to take care of the mother and child appropriately, that less women would be faced with having to make a choice on whether or not to keep their child. And Dennis has formed a "Department" of Peace. Check it out on his main site or check out the following:

Dennis Kucinich is the only candidate with a 100% voting record on choice issues in the last two years. Our club carefully monitors all Congressional votes and choice is one of the issues at which we look. The main reason that the other candidates fail and all of the Democratic Presidential Candidates (who have been in Congress) except Kucinich have records below 50% on choice is that they vote routinely for anti-choice justices. Obama even voted for cloture on Priscilla Owen, a justice Gonzales thinks is right-wing. Going back to Edwards record, he has also voted to confirm anti-choice justices. The candidates other than Kucinich believe that it is OK to support justices who will end choice while pretending to be pro-choice.
Kucinich has always been upfront on his position. He is the only candidate who would use Roe v. Wade as a litmus test for nominating justices. This is the kind of pro-choice candidate we need.
All the politicians on Capitol Hill are flip-floppers. It just depends on the issue. DK is my flip-flopper. :-)
