Just kidding. I'm sickeningly full, and waiting for the 8 pm plenary session to start. Seriously, 8 pm? Can't deal. I'm here with my friend and co-worker Molly, and we're a little punchy(thus the suggestion that I attend this evening's program sans dress). The next session (which still hasn't started even though it's 8:07 - make it 8:12), is a panel discussion with Sherrod Brown, Amy Klobuchar and Bernie Sanders. There are ice cream treats from Ben and Jerry's, and because the panel is moderated by Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation, there are many copes of the July 2 edition which, ahem, includes a quote from yours truly.

Note to self: When I run a progressive political conference, don't host a panel discussion with senators at 8 pm.

Most of the conversation was about the war and some about the economy. A few minutes ago the first audience question was about impeaching Bush and Cheney, At least it woke everyone up. So, not Sanders and Brown are talking about why it's not the time. Whatevs. Frankly, this kind of session is what exhausts me about living in DC for almost 10 years. It's mostly speechifying, and not a lot of actual discussion. We got a few works from Brown about poverty, but in general, this session is all about the game of politics, not the real lives of people not in this ballroom whose lives are changed, and sometimes ended by this "game."

Or, I might just be annoyed because it's been 3 hours since I had some booze. After this session I'm heading over to the Living Liberally party. More tomorrow!
