Oh, how I wished that was going to be Alanis doing another spoof...
I'm convinced. From now on, I'm having sex with my clothes on.
That singer died of AIDS, didn't he?
Hmm. We could start an entire industry to teach teens how to have satisfying sexual encounters that don't involve penile penetration. Maybe we could get a government grant.
"We could have some cherry wine."
Really? That'd be swell. I'll party up all night with my clothes on. Hell yea.
Oh my goodness, Liz you're right. I didn't realize that at all. Now I feel shitty about the abstinence title.
Jessica, you are truly a top YouTube video sleuth. I love this song! Man, the 80s were so great for challenging gender identity in pop music. How many Annie Lennoxes or Jermaine Stewarts do you see in mainstream music today?
There was a GRATE compilation released a few years ago of 80s songs covered by indie pop artists. For the life of me, I cannot remember the band that covered this song (it's at home!), and while it's slowed down, it's all the more sweet for it!
This song is following me! It was in an episode of Scrubs on TV last night, the one where the Janitor uses it to taunt Turk about not having sex with Carla, so I actually had it stuck in my head already when I came across this post.
String_Bean_Jen, I'd love to hear this song covered by an indie pop artist!
Yes, Liz, he did die of AIDS, I also think he was gay though I'm not sure.
If he was then it's really odd to have a gay man singing to me about not having sex with men.
Oh I love this song! :-D I'm up for partying all night and drinking wine!!
OMG!! my super hot married male coworker used to sing this to me and we'd fall over laughing because, given the chance, we would never be able to "dance and party all night" and keep our clothes on... ;-)
thanks for making me smile!
Of all the different wines he could've recommended to go with an unforgettable night of mind-blowing chastity, he decided to go with cherry wine. Fascinating.
That's horrible, LM. I don't know why you would ever consider leaving a comment about how you would gladly screw over his wife. I'm disgusted.
Notemily - found it! Double Agent records put out a fantastic compilation a few years ago called "A Tribute to the 1980's". The band is question in called Class, who did a slower, quieter version of this Jermaine Stewart classic. Other bands on the compilation are My Favorite, Bunnygrunt, and Tullycraft. And the compilation is still available on this web site. Woot!
