Lesbians don't say "horny"

Go check out this great post by Kevyn Abernathy at QueerSighted, Lies My Lover Told Me: The miseducation of a novice. Really great stuff.

After a lifetime as an enthusiastic and fairly skilled heterosexual, I fell in love with a woman and signed up for a new way of being. My guide was always quick to point out all the ways in which I was violating lesbian custom. When I told her, for instance, that I was feeling extremely horny, she sharply remarked: "Lesbians don't use the word 'horny.'"

"They don't?" I responded, feeling my face redden with shame.

"Never, ever, EVER," she intoned. "We say, 'I'm in the mood for a little hanky panky.'" (I'm not making this up.)

Hysterical. I guess I shouldn't judge though, I've still been known to say, "knocking boots." But that's just the Queens in me.

That's hilarious. Someone's always got a code for every type of behavior. I'm so so glad I'm not with anyone like that. My guy loves to say he's randy. I usually say I'm in the mood to play backgammon (after a particularly interesting game one evening). I know, I know - TMI. I just wanted to point out everyone's different.

Weird!
I know a girl who also uses "playing backgammon" as code! Now I giggle every time I hear anyone talk about backgammon. Which is unfortunate, since I play backgammon with my parents fairly regularly. Heh.

I cannot believe that. Too funny.

The only problem is - when I really want to play backgammon. Guess I'll have to come up with another code.

we don't? since when? :)

my girlfriend uses "randy", too. I'd never heard that before. But I think it's fun. And we both use "horny" and "wound up". And sometimes we just make up innuendos because we can...

I say I want to play. It's playful to me.

jrav, you should say that you're feeling randy when you actually want to play backgammon.

I say "randy", "hot and bothered", and, yes, I've said that my "blood was on fire" before.

What? I can't be the only sci-fi nerd in the room.

So wait, since I'm bisexual, am I not allowed to say either "in the mood for hanky-panky" or "horny"? Do we have our own term? Or can I choose whatever euphemism I like? Do I have to base my choice on which gender I'm with at the time?
I'm so confused! :D

Like the pon farr? Intense.

I say "play." Playmate, playdate, etc. Lesbians often use toys, after all.
