South Dakota rejects abortion ban bill
Here’s some awesome news! The proposed abortion ban in South Dakota—which now had exceptions or rape, incest and women’s health—was rejected yesterday by a committee vote of 8-1.
So much for trying to “tone down� the ban in an effort to drum up support. (Sorry, assholes!)

8 to 1, wow. It shows the importance of making noise and going to the voting booth. They listened.
WOOOO HOOOO! Hopefully this is the last we'll hear of this. At least for a while.
The hand full of Porgessive Dakotans look around in shock that this happen. Could it be that the argument that the people just struck down a similar, but less watered down version, months back worked?
Could it be they looked a the facts:
There is one place , Sioux Falls, down in the SE corner of the state, that does the procedure. And you have to an appointment there and go there on the one day a week that they fly in a doctor from Minnesota, out of the Twin Cities. And this all needs to occur in the first 24 weeks on pregnancy (barring danger to life).
It would be nice if they just thought they were restrictive enough, if not overly.
But, of course, it is more about the pointlessness of the fight. In court it will die fast, and they are politicians first and for most.
I love the one vite for it, who said it would come back EVERY year. Nice, a threat.
Don't get too excited yet because there's still a chance they could get the votes to resurrect it since it didn't die on floor vote...not safe until session ends as a result.

This ban has now been voted down TWICE. WTF why can't these asshats LET. IT. GO.
whether or not abortion is banned in south dakota is largely symbolic, women do not have any access as described in phi's comment. help us.
