Speaking of the rape/alcohol relationship

Now tell me again how it's women's responsibility to stop rape? The shirt says it all.

Look on the bright side. Anyone who wears that shirt is advertising himself as a jerk - and you know to avoid him. It's kind of like wild animals that have bright colours to let you know that they are poisonous. You know which guys are date-rapists and who are too stupid to get a girl to willingly have sex with them.

None of the above, of course, can really override the basic EEWWWWWW factor.

Interesting because I totally read that shirt wrong when I saw it. I read it more as a critique of date rape. I can see both sides. Probably my view isn't the one intended by the company selling these shirts.

Now we're going to get some bullshit lecture on how feminists can't take a joke, instead of a reflection on the fact that sexist guys are frequently unfunny.

That shirt is gross. But I agree that it's nice to know which guys to avoid.

You know, you'd think that things like this would frighten girls off, but working the night desk in a freshman dorm at a mid-sized university has disappointed me in many ways. I can just see a drunk 18 year old tottering in on her heels glassy eyed as she tries to sign in a 25 year old SOBER guy wearing this shirt.

And that's when I say "Sorry, I can't sign him in tonight. You can go upstairs though. Have a good night!"

If you strike the T-shirt down, it shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.

I still can't believe there are marketers who think people will buy this for $15 each. I guess I like to think people are better than that. And I'm sure I'd be wrong.
Disgusting.

I bet John Petroski has one of those shirts.

(He of the "Rape is magical and beneficial" article)

Brilliant. :D

Oh.
I misunderstood the shirt.
At first, I thought it was bringing up the alcohol/rape relationship in a not positive way.
Too early for me, I guess.

And props to Genny.

For a second when I saw this shirt, I naively thought it was marketed to women as a clever way of snarking back at those who say "stop drinking girls!! You'll get drunk and then you'll be raped!!" Kind of like, fuck you, I'll drink however fucking much I want.

Just goes to show you how out of line I am with societal thinking :P

Gotta love how, not only do they not tell men not to rape, but they in fact encourage them to do it by poking fun at it. AWESOME.

I once saw a picture of a girl wearing a shirt that said "no means eat me out first"

I kinda thought that was sorta clever.

I've got a poster up in my office of a guy, his arm around his girl. It says, My strength is not for hurting. So when I wanted to and she didn't, we didn't.

this makes me so made, and what's worse is a friend of mine thinks it's funny. how much of a horrible person would you have to be to wear this. Yes people will argue it's just a joke, but rape it not anything to joke about. I wonder if they ever think how it makes a woman who has been raped feel when she see's it.
