Anti-choicers getting public funds
At least eight states are using public funds to support anti-choice “pregnancy centers (you know, the kind that lie to women) and other sketchy organizations.
As a condition of the grants, counselors are often barred from referring women to any clinic that provides abortions; in some cases, they may not discuss contraception either.
Because why try to prevent pregnancy? That would just be silly.

This is sickening. As the article points out, with an increase in funding for "crisis centers" sometimes comes a decrease in funding for Planned Parenthood, which offers so many services (like cancer screening and EC) that "crisis centers" don't. HOW can that be good for women?
The Planned Parenthood affiliates around here even offer pre- and post-natal care for both mother and infant, something the CPC's definitely don't offer, so to see them being given so much money for so little in the way of community investment is intensely frustrating.
i remember one of these such places vividly from my younger days. it was a horrible experience. i thought i might be pregnant and went there for a pregnancy test, which they gave me. then i was made to sit through several videos and be verbally blasted for even thinking about abortion.
to know that my tax dollars are being used now to support such places makes me beyond ill.
pull taffy - i think that's the point. doublespeak reigns supreme. they don't care about women, or what is good for us. :(
As usual, Texas is taking the lead in shafting live women for our most valued microscopic American citizens:
"A state program that provides alternatives to abortion has served fewer than 700 clients after getting nearly $1.9 million in funds that could have provided thousands more women with family-planning services, including contraceptives and cancer screenings, officials said."
