Great pic, because it inspired me to think these folks could take their tech and shove it. And that was enough for me. But then I looked at the website from the poster, and it's just too cool. Their tagline is: Reclaiming ICTs to End Violence Against Women.
From the website:
"Take Back The Tech!" is initiated and organised by the Association for Progressive Communications, Women's Networking Support Programme (APC WNSP).We are a global network of women who support women networking for social change and women's empowerment, through the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs).
We promote gender equality in the design, development, implementation, access to and use of ICTs, and in the policy decisions and frameworks that regulate them.
Our network numbers over 100 women from more than 35 countries. They are individual women and women's groups and organisations working in the field of gender and ICT and actively supporting women's networking. Our members have formed themselves into regional networks in Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Africa and are building an emerging network in Europe.
The site hosts a blog-a-thon, a forum, a digital storytelling section, and even a campaign "Feminist-ing wikipedia!"

for what they are doing for gender equality in wikipedia. They're a really great bunch...
I think it's curious that the silhouette is a cute little girl with pig-tails. Is it trying to appeal to a wider market, false-consciousness, or just a fluke? Any thoughts?
I thought with her baseball cap and baggy trousers she was supposed to be a hip young woman.
If you disagree with me then my idea of hip could always just be plain wrong of course :)
The Bourbs - I think I can explain the pigtails.
The problem with simplified silhoutte type pictures is that the outward signs of gender get lost in the simplification (think generic pedestrian crossing signs). The easiest way to make a stick figure appear female is to give it a triangle shaped torso, indicaing a dress (think public bathroom signs). As a society, we tend to perceive these figures as male, unless we see something that tells us the figure is female. In this case, the figure is dressed in baggy clothing and a baseball hat. The pigtails needed to be added as an outward sign of feminity in order for the figure to be perceived as female. If you cover the pigtsils in the picture, it could be a young man. This speaks to how women are viewed and female is defined by the outer trappings of what is believed to be feminine. There are other examples of the oversimplification of gender in pop culture - Miss Pacman was Pacman with a bow on her head and the female ghost (I think it was Sue) was pink, also with a bow.
