what a douchebag. but i admit, i totally laughed. what a moron, bad conversationalist AND bad sex. all said right to her face.

the good news is if shes getting her period in a few days, she most likely wont get pregnant.

wonder how often this happens?

Ugh. That's just disgusting. What an a**hole.

I think you're pretty much at your chances of getting pregnant at their highest right before your period. It's right after it that you're safest since you haven't ovulated again yet.

Well, that was almost incoherent. Let's try that again.

I think your chances of getting pregnant are at their highest right before your period. It's right after that you're safest because you haven't ovulated again yet.

they are at the highest right in the middle, the uterus is getting ready to shed its lining right before (depending on how close she is to getting her period). I hope shes not pregnant. we dont need anymore boring republicans who are bad in bed to be hypocrits and vote for abstinence education. kidding kidding. apparently, though, that is a mostly republican network and it's full of a-holes guys ike this who thing they are important.

perhaps the saddest thing is that it really doesnt surprise me all that much.

Hoy freaking jebus. Am I the only one who hates the people in the comments? They're vilifying HER right along with him! Um, HE is the jackass who insulted her online to save face (clearly the sex could not have been THAT bad if there's a chance of pregnancy now -- it was probably lots better for him than for her), and HE is the lying scumbag fuckwit who DIDN'T TELL HER THAT HE CAME INSIDE HER.

Jesus Christ. I had one guy *almost* do this to me once, but then he got the guts to 'fess up. I was pissed at him but tried not to show it because there are some men you apparently have to train, like children, that telling the truth is a good thing. Fortunately I was on the pill at the time, but HOLY CHRIST what if I was this girl?

As far as I can tell, this girl did everything right: she was confident enough to invite the guy up and smart enough to insist on a condom (which everyone should do even IF they're on the pill, unlike Jackass McIdiot who apparently thinks condoms are only there to prevent prenancy), and suddenly *she's* dumb for having a guy lie to her and insult her?

God how fucked up. Her only mistake is her indescribably poor taste in men, and EVERYONE'S entitled to a few of those.

Afaeyre Maede,

That is untrue. Women with regular menstrual cycles can get pregnant anywhere from 4-8 days surrounding ovulation [meaning 2 before, 2 after to 6 before and 2 after]. This is easy to predict using fertility awareness, but I digress.

If you have a regular menstrual cycle and an average luteal phase [meaning that your cycle is split more or less in half by ovulation, so if you have a 28 day cycle, you ovulate on day 14], you are unable to get pregnant after 2 days post-ovulation. Well, actually this is not so true biologically because you can only really get pregnant up to 24 hours after ovulation because after that the egg dies, but it is VERY difficult to pinpoint the exact moment of ovulation so you throw in that extra day for security. In any case, wow, I'm rambling, my apologies.

So basically, right before a period, it is unlikely that she will get pregnant because if she has an "average" menstrual cycle [which is what I am assuming because I haven't read otherwise] she would be on day 20-26 or so, and therefore ovulation most likely has passed.

[And jeeze, this is definitely one of the reasons I am so hesitant about one-night-stands with men, as fun as they are. Thankfully, females can't get other females pregnant]

if you knew anything about that blog you would know snark is one of its specialty's, that goes for the articles as well as the commenters. many people are not villifying her, and the ones that are are being snarky bc if you knew anything about DC/that particular social club/the people that go there you would know they are mostly a preppy, racist group of homophobic hypocrits. hence the snark. While I don't wish what happened to her on ANYONE, realize what you are dealing with before you make comments.

katie, I can tell that it's snarky. That doesn't lessen my point any -- their snark seems to be centered around the idea that "ha ha, she got what she deserved." Whether that's because she's a (believed) Republican or because she's a woman, I don't care. No one "deserves" an unwanted pregnancy or STD, especially not if she was careful enough to take smart precautions. The fact of the matter is, the guy acted like a jerk and the girl is ALSO being made fun of. Whether or not they're snarky is not the point. Hell, *I* am pretty snarky myself, but there has to be a line somewhere. Imagine if they were making fun of a black guy because he was drunk the night before at a Young Republicans party and locked his keys in his car (his friend drove him home), and now he's trying to get into the car and gets arrested for attempted grand theft auto. Hahaha, how ironic, he's black and he's Republican, now he's a victim of the racial profiling that Republicans are in favor of. Isn't that funny?

Not to me, even if you're being snarky about it. Rather, it's yet ANOTHER sad incident of racism and is a PROBLEM, not something to laugh at. Whether or not the person involved is a Republican.

I do totally understand your point and think its partly true. People always want to blame the woman. However, I also kind of read it as pointing out the irony and schadenfreude of the situation. I certainly dont think she got what she deserved, if anything, she is being punished for making the right decision with the wrong person.

It's stuff like this that makes me never want to have sex. Along with teen pregnancy. And well, pregnancy in general. From what I've heard, the whole birthing process isn't very pleasant.

"I think you're pretty much at your chances of getting pregnant at their highest right before your period. It's right after it that you're safest since you haven't ovulated again yet."
*shakes head* Yet another comment that makes me want to run to Kinkos and print off some sexual education materials and pass them out to the general public (no offense, I'm sure your not the only one out there!) Like previously said, you chances of getting pregnant are significantly less right before your period then right after it, if you have a normal cycle...in fact almost certainly having sex right after ones period and before one ovulates is the easiest way to become pregnant because sperm has been known to remain alive and kicking in a woman's vagina for as long as 5 days.

But anyways...this guy is a jackass. I was already pissed when I read his comment about her not taking the pill. WTF? I didn't know I was supposed to be taking a pill that could possibly give me cancer down the road so that some asshole could have sex with me without a condom on. Ugh. Then he doesn't even tell her he broke the condom? I hope, I really really hope this woman had some horrible STD and gave it to him. What an ass.

Just for the record, even if you have regular periods, you can't be sure you won't be fertile during your period. Yes, I know what the textbook answer to the question is, but you're not a textbook. If you're using a barrier method, you need to use it every time.
