I don't know... When I was living in New York I knew a few of the blazer wearing, republican, banker type crowd. They didn't seem to have any trouble finding interested women. Of course none of them wore giant republican pins, so maybe that's it.

I was expecting him to be wearing a "pro-life" button or something but this is almost as good. Interesting and creative, overall I really liked it, I giggled.

I dunno. I wouldn't date anybody who walked around with a big Democrat or Republican pin on their shirt/jacket/blazer/whatever at all. Party lines suck.

Maybe it's just me but I actually felt sorry for the guy, however I'm not one to attract many Republican guys, LOL

How...sexist.

That's a really stupid reason to vote democrat.

Heh. Cute. I always ask on the first date where my date stands on abortion rights, and if he/she gives the wrong answer, there won't be a second one.

I don't date anti-choicers. They might fuck with your birth control.

While I agree this is a dumb reason to vote dem (i.e. there are no issues), as a young woman and college student I like the message that women should be thinking about the political views of their partners. My mom's happily married to a republican (my father), but that doesn't mean I have to do it too. I swear there are liberal men out there, my boyfriend is a great liberal, gay rights activist, and a true feminist to boot. HUGE turn on AND we have real conversations.

Also, I dated a republican for a while (several years), and in our relationship my politics didn't matter. I was the "cute hippie chick" who would wise up by the time he was ready to get married. I've heard this story time and again from other girls my age that I hang out with. Plus sleeping with him was like... sleeping.

Maybe I've just temporarily lost my sense of humor (or maybe it's because I have a number of Republican friends), but I think it's just really tacky and sad.

I think it's funny, but like Manda says, it's tacky. I never asked people what their politics are before I talk to them. I wouldn't date a racist or a religious fanatic, but apart from that, I don't discriminate politically.

I know it's different when it directly affects you - for example if you date an anti-choice man, or if I date someone who's too boring because she believes in female submission. But just walking out on someone who votes the wrong way doesn't make that much sense.

I don't think I could maintain an intimate relationship with a conservative (although as a man I'm not all that likely to have that problem). It's a matter of sharing my life with someone whose values are so fundamentally different from my own.

I don't think I could date anyone who "speed dates". Desperation makes me uncomfortable.

Yeah, you won't catch me laughing at crazy conservative types because crazy conservative types are the only types who've ever given me the time of day. So when in the name of Lyle Lovett and His Large Band am I ever going to have a shot with a liberal? I should think it would be nice. You know, less guns, more craftivism.. stuff like that.

This ad isn't about dating Republicans -- it's about choosing Republicans at the ballot box. Am I the only one disturbed by the equation of dating and voting? Can women's political choices really be reduced to a parade of dolled-up women looking for a date? I mean, come on!

Why is it that an ad targeted at women has to work through the medium of choosing a man, a man who represents the political establishment. Yuck! It seems like every ad directed at women or about women relates to their relationship with men, as wife, mother, or sexual mate -- and this ad, about the most basic act of voting, is no exception.
