I never fail to be disgusted by O'Reilly's arrogance, ignorance, and hatefulness.
This past spring I had to abort an ectopic pregnancy. I had wanted another a child, so this was very very hard for me. There was no chance that the pregnancy would survive. Had I not had the abortion, I would have very likely lost my only ovary. I could even have died, leaving my son without a Mother. It's just shocking when I hear some of the so called "pro-life" wackos say that they prefer a doomed embryo to a woman/mother. Apparently they also prefer that embryo to a happy, well-adjusted living child and a happily married man, both of whom would be devestated if I had died.
Such hateful idiocy!

This sounds disturbingly similar to the attitude towards abortion in El Salvador. An article awhile back titled "Pro-Life Nation" detailed the country's abortion laws (its available at http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/04/09/america/web.0409abortioncomplete.php).

Regarding ectopic pregnancy it says:

"According to Sara Valdés, the director of the Hospital de Maternidad, women coming to her hospital with ectopic pregnancies cannot be operated on until fetal death or a rupture of the fallopian tube. 'That is our policy,' Valdés told me. She was plainly in torment about the subject. 'That is the law,' she said. 'The D.A.'s office told us that this was the law.' Valdés estimated that her hospital treated more than a hundred ectopic pregnancies each year. She described the hospital's practice. 'Once we determine that they have an ectopic pregnancy, we make sure they stay in the hospital,' she said. The women are sent to the dispensary, where they receive a daily ultrasound to check the fetus. 'If it's dead, we can operate,' she said. 'Before that, we can't.' If there is a persistent fetal heartbeat, then they have to wait for the fallopian tube to rupture. If they are able to persuade the patient to stay, though, doctors can operate the minute any signs of early rupturing are detected. at some stages of a pregnancy, a c-section or "those sorts of things" is tantamount to an abortion, because the baby can't survive on its own.

when my sister had pre-eclampsia, my nephew was barely on the survival side of that line. i love my nephew dearly, but if the delivery or an operation had had to happen two, four, eight weeks earlier to save my sister from the toxins piling up in her blood, you bet i'd still have wanted it to happen.

obviously he's against abortion-but I don't think he'll state that because that would undermine his assertion that he's really an independant. No-he's a righty.

If there were not people in this world who might actually belive him it would be hilarious to see him make a fool of himself to this degree. Since there are people that foolish it is disturbing.

The article you linked to isn't there. But thank you for bringing that up; I remember reading that article and being absolutely appalled by the way they treat women in the name of the fetus. I'd like to think that that couldn't happen here, but....

You would think with all of his money and "success" Bill O'Reilly would be . . . happier.
