The horrendous title, We've Gone the Wrong Way, Baby: Feminism's Proud Destruction of Mankind, is worth mentioning alone.
I just had to throw this piece into the anti-feminist boiling pot. Apparently, we're now turning our children into gangbangers and drug users. Sweet!
"Female Empowerment" was the shameful fantasy. Now for the harsh reality. Sisters, your babies are killing each other. They are having babies at younger ages and in record numbers in a desperate search for that unconditional love they couldn't find in the myriad of minimum wage babysitters and daycares they had growing up. They are turning to gangs and drugs to ease the pain of loneliness and the longing for Mommy-a longing which is innate, necessary, and good-and it is our fault. Our children are suffering; their tender feelings have waxed cold and all signs of humanity are dying off in agonizing death throes, and we women are the cause. Women. The givers of life have turned against their own offspring in a vain quest for self-fulfillment. It is madness.
Madness, indeed.
NOTE FROM JESSICA: My favorite part of her bullshittery:
My all time favorite saying about the power women possess was revealed by author Samuel Johnson in the 18th century: Nature has given women so much power that the law has very wisely given them little. Now before feminists start ripping tendons and ligaments with their typical knee-jerk reaction to this example, look again. This is a statement and recognition of the power and strength men recognize within women-power they envy, strength they admire, and tenderness they crave. This is a statement of respect and recognition for women, not belittlement.
See ladies, you don't need any political power because you're naturally powerful. Women shouldn't vote cause, hey, we already have uteruses.
UPDATE: Jill points out that our friendly anti-feminist author has some, uh...interesting, opinions on race.

Maybe we're coming at this from the wrong angle... maybe if we tell people it is not the woman but her uterus that is voting... can any fetal matter contained therein vote as well?
I love how this woman cites an 18th century male author as proof that we're oh-so-liberated in our natural state... since women in the 18th century were left in their natural state. I'm sure women burst from thin air wearing corsets, hiding beneath a parasol and feigning pale illness.
Is she actually serious? She's not even consistent. One minute she says 'they deserve rights of voting, work, etc. ' then later says 'brainwashing to get women to leave the home'. So which does she want? For women to stay home and be barefoot and pregnant or to have the option of having a career?
Let's also note that in that heyday of good women, only poor women looked after their own kids. Any lady with any money at all hired wet-nurses, nannies, tutors, nurses, and governesses. One wonders, did gang violence erupt among the 18th-century adolescent aristocrats? If it did, were those bad mommies to blame?
Except that most stay-at-home mom's do very little mommy-time with the kids. What with day-time tv, stay-at-home friends to chat up, online games and chat rooms, and housework/workouts/naps/crafting...
I think people who wax nostalgic for June Cleaver moms forget that most of the kids' day was spent playing or watching tv, not doing incredibly deep bonding activities with mom. Now days with the 2-income economy I think having a stay-home is much worse for many families. People don't always stay-home for the kids, for many it's a total aversion to employment or simply that they can't afford the daycare/have no choice. A resentful, lonely, cash-strapped mommy who is stuck at home for practical reasons is NOT going to be a well of emotional support for a stir-crazy stay-at-home kid.
Why don't people get really backward and miss the days when small kids were put to work on the family farm... or better yet in salt mines! That built character back in the day. ;p
All of the social problems the author mentions - teen pregnancy, crime, and parental alienation - are better now than they used to be. But since sexism itself isn't grounded in reality, I don't expect the author to let facts confuse her.
Holy crap. This is my first time posting (hello all!) and I just couldn't stay away on this one. I almost swallowed my gum reading it. I cannot understand how any woman could follow this line of mental thinking, let alone have such a misguided argument with absolutely no FACTS to back it up but just looking around at what she sees and going, "Hmm, that MUST be the fault of feminists." No other factor can go into the rise of crime within inner cities, or with teen suicide, or with the rise of STIs, all of which aren't easily solved by sending women back into the home, hell no! It's women. They are to blame for all the shitty things in this country and men have done nothing (i.e. walking out on girlfriends/wives leaving them in single parent homes) to contribute. I supposed eventually we will be to blame for the extinction of the dinosaurs at some point, they will surely find a way. But this is what I loved the most:
"Here's what you're gonna do. Women, go home. Get rid of the huge mortgage and move into a trailer. It's not the neighborhood-or village, idiot!-that raises a good child. Have two cars? Get rid of one and deal with the annoyance of having to drive more. It's not the car that makes the family. Fancy clothes and vacations? Trivial and silly... those won't be what your child remembers. "
And yet, this is what her profile says:
"Resa LaRu Kirkland [...]is married with two sons whom she is teaching the evils of political correctness [...] Resa loves power-lifting, snowmobiling, swimming, boating, four-wheeling, and most activities of any nature."
Um, didn't she just tell women to go back into the home and spend every waking moment with their kids? She also mentioned that women should cook and fill the home with plesant "smells." I don't know about you but powerlifting has nothing to do with cooking and wouldn't it take away from her precious "feminity"? Muscles are not becoming on a vessel for life and you don't really need them for your "true" purpose.
And I don't know too many people who actually WANT to live in a trailer (and I doubt she does either live in a trailer or want to). And what's funny is that she's addressing all these "concerns" as if these women don't have husbands or significant others who help have jobs that help out financially. I wonder would she tell a husband/man that he needs to drop everything and move into a trailer and give up his vacation time to be with the family? Of course not. Because raising children is the sole domain of women, what on earth was I thinking by even bringing up that question:).
If she is addressing single mothers and telling them to quit their job and move into a trailer in order to raise their kid(s) I can understand that they'd be pissed.
But I guess it's okay for her to have a nice life outside of her family but other women shouldn't. Then again, I could have read that wrong.
My first post! Woo-hoo!
it makes me so sad to see attitudes like this. It really does. Whats worse is that so many actually believe it :(
Those lucky women with no choice other than to be wives and mothers, what more is there to be a woman? SHE makes me ashamed of my gender, to allow this sort of patriarchy to rot the minds of children and adults like.
Violence, pregnancies and STIs certainly arent caused by a lack of education, certainly not! Lets not focus our efforts on HELPING crime and educating kids about STIs and safe sex (oh no, that would be a sin) instead lets oppress more than half the nation against their will because otherwise some women might actually have to give a damn about their lives. What a pity.
Wow, what an insane piece of dreck. Yes, let's all us women quit our jobs and stay home, nevermind that for most that means no income at all. And no health insurance. Yes, the government will take care of us all. And those of us who do not breed, we should all just have kids anyway. Yes, the world would just be SO MUCH BETTER then, right?
*Sigh* This woman is writing from a space of well-fed, oblivious privilege. What do you want to bet that if she was forced to live as most women live her tune would change in an instant? I bet then she wouldn't be ashamed of being a woman, she would be ashamed of her own dumbassery. I bet her trailor wouldn't even smell nice.
The trailor suggestion is just plain insulting.
Here's another gem from Ms. LaRu Kirkland. I feel so sorry for whatever made this woman such a complete nut - and I feel even more sympathy for her children and their future partners.

My mother says this stuff all the time, in fact she'd heartily agree with that. But then, she sees me spending all my time when I'm home from work with my little boy, talking with him, building things, doing activities and teaching him, and she says, "When we were children our mother didn't spend all that time with us. She had too much housework. we jsut had to amuse ourselves and it was very good for us, we didn't get too attached..." All I can say is , "Ladies, mothers, Kick-ass women, we are all sisters. There's no right and wrong way across the board, there's only what's right or wrong for you individually. Just give your children the best you have to give, and don't worry about meddling women who need to put you down in order to feel superior."
She is completely grounded in the comfortable (to her) notion that motherhood comes naturally to all women, and that our main role is to simply NURTURE leaders, not become them ourselves.
It frustrates me when anyone-man or woman- assumes that what is right for them is right for everyone of their gender.
