In Essence this month, Kelis says not to call her a feminist: "Whenever you say that word, people think of some crazy, hairy lesbian. God bless all the hairy lesbians, but that's not what the word means to me. I'm a woman's woman. I have no penis envy." Nice.

From the E! News Anchor article:
If you meet a guy, and you take his phone number and he takes yours, and three days later he hasn't called, the truth of the matter is he probably wasn't interested in you in the first place, or he's not going to call you ... The problem is, you have a couple of glasses of wine with your friends on day three, and you find yourself calling him. You're a little unruly, and you're having a little too much fun, and then you wake up the next morning and you regret it. You can't believe you called him. So I think it's just dangerous. If he likes you, he will call you.
Uh, WTF? I trade numbers with women all the time and so far none of them have bedded me in a fit of drunken desperation. I can't decide whether the article is more anti-woman or anti-man, but it's sure as hell not healthy. Though it does sum up why I only date friends.
Oh, and if I have a woan's number and don't call her back in three days, it means that either (a) I'm busy or (b) I lost the friggin' number. Head's Rule of Relationships #1: I am a well-rounded human being, not a walking penis. Head's Rule of Relationships #2: Women are well-rounded human beings, not walking vaginas.
LORD. Does anyone with an IQ above room temperature actually buy this crap?
And the author of the ABC News article seems to be making a skimpy-clothes-cause-rape argument without actually suggesting rape. And this just in: Tank tops and miniskirts aren't really all that skimpy for summer fashion. I assume the purpose of this piece (assuming it was televised) was to show a bunch of young women "wearing too little," but if you want to show young flesh, why not do a positive piece on women's fashion for a change instead of one more finger-pointing diatribe against young women, laying out yet another choice that the author believes young women should no longer be allowed to have?
Several items here I'll be hat tipping on my civil liberties site later, BTW (though neither of the above); nothing until at least midnight, but anyone who's interested can check it out tomorrow and see what I've posted. I won't be posting links to individual blog entries here because that'd be way too spammy, even for me, but let's just say I love the rhythm method article.
Cheers,

Anti-choicers purchasing Susan B. Anthonys home is sacrilege! Of course it's not even to progress her ideals, but to try and undermine feminists and their values. Discusting, and if someone wants to buy it, they'll have to end up giving money to the 'president' of Democrats for Life of America, or their half-baked organization. You simply can't be a feminist if your not pro-choice.
Thanks for the round up of incredibly depressing news.
The NY Times has started a series of articles about the online pedophile community. It's pretty scary stuff. Anyone who has kids should pay ALOT of attention to the adults they interact with.
