South Dakota gubernatorial candidate speaks out against abortion ban

Democrat Jack Billion held a press conference today to clarify his position on South Dakota's sweeping abortion ban.

Jack Billion called the ban a "rigid and unforgiving law" that leaves women and families no option.

He said South Dakota already has some of the nation's most restrictive abortion laws and the new measure's lack of exceptions for rape or incest "further victimizes the women of South Dakota."

Listen to the statement here.

But get this: Apparently Billion has a douchey brother who showed up at the press conference to oppose Billion's position.

"I support this courageous act by our S.D. Legislature and Governor Rounds, because it recognizes the scientific and moral truth about human life in the womb," Stephen Billion read.

The why don't you run for governor, asshole? What kind of a person crashes their brother's press conference anyway? Sheesh.

In any case, go show Billion some love.

I'm really quite appalled at what his brother did.

If one of my brothers did that to me, or I did that to them, that person would be completely unwelcome at the dinner table. My parents would be PISSED. The other (uninvolved) sibling would be PISSED.

I question what kind of "family values" this man really has if he's willing to sabotage his own brother. I disagree with my brothers on many moral issues, but I would never try to discredit and humiliate them.

There's a difference between standing up for what you believe is right and wilfully hurting your sibling's chances at success. You can discuss it with them in private, or even make your own feelings on the matter public, but crashing their press conference? That's just mean and petty.

It's not exactly a leap to imagine a dirty election campaign where Billion's brother helps create attack ads against his brother. After all, who knows more about your missteps than your sibling?

I'll tell you what kind of person intrudes upon his brother's campaign adress. A right-wing moron that's who. But I commend Billion's advocacy of women's reproductive rights.
