This is what a handle bar looks like

Not that anyone is all that interested in my bruises, but this I had to share. Apparently my little scooter mishap earlier this week has resulted in a fractured hip bone and the coolest bruise I've ever had. It's in the shape of my handle bar--you can even see the lines from the throttle!

Yeah, I know; I'm way too excited about this. Give me a break; it's Friday. Pic after the jump.

That does look quite nasty. I didn't think a moped in first gear would be fast enough to do that kind of damage.

dang.
hope you're feeling better!

Holy crap, that looks painful. Hope you heal fast.

At least you have a satisfying bruise. There's nothing worse than an injury that hurts like hell and doesn't show.

I hope your being excited about it means it doesn't hurt that much... The worst bruise I ever had was about the size of one of your bruise lines, and damn it, it was painful.

Totally bad-ass.

You are totally hardcore.

I don't think I've ever had a bruise that big. I've close, but have failed to be as hardcore as you.

IT'S NOT A MOPED!

(had to say it.)

Haha, thanks Anna! It's certainly not.

Ah, that explains that then.

I thought a moped and a scooter were basically the same thing.

What cc is it ?

It's 150cc; it's a Stella. I love it to death though looking at the scratch on its side depresses me now. :(

Basically I was going too fast when I shifted to second and I dumped the clutch. Ooops.

Oh, I was going to ask you this last time but forgot to because I was too busy deprecating your ride: why did you get a pollution-spewing, terrorist-financing scooter instead of an environmentally-responsible, good-health-encouraging electric bicycle?

Hey now, that's unnecessary. The people of Alberta are pretty conservative, but terrorists? Uncalled for.

Hahaha.

Like we get oil from Canada ;)

Make sure you get back on that scooter ASAP. As soon as you are able to. With gear. You know, falling off a horse and all that.

After seeing that bruise I thought of a great little video on Youtube that at the end of it shows a great way to avoid bruises like that in the future.

I feel for you.

I used to own a sweet little Vespa. About a year and half ago, I was riding down the highway and my back tire blew out giving me a fairly nasty case of road burn as well as some bruises (though none as cool as yours).

A year later, as my birthday present to myself, I fixed the scooter up again. So, of course, while taking it out on it's check-out ride, a kid in an SUV took a left turn into me.

I'm gonna hold off getting another scooter until I find a saner place to live.
