An abstinence video that inexplicably links premarital sex to sin-inducing movies..like Grease. And Dirty Dancing. It's priceless.
And as Amanda pointed out to me (via IM), it doesn't exactly make married sex seem all that hot. If matching khaki outfits is all I have to look forward to, then sign me up for some fornication.

Pocahontas?! That might even be worse than Grease.
Should I write them and let them know that when my boyfriend and I had the naughty pre-marital sex on prom night, we had the lovely rose petal hearts that they show during their marriage segment? Even worse, we used a condom. And could you believe that even though he was getting the milk for free, he ended up buying the cow? I bet they wouldn't believe me. After all, I was a whore just like cartoon Pocahontas.
By the way, the music sucked and their message wasn't all that clear. It looks like something I might have done in middle school.
Yeah, that was pretty stupid, but don't we complain about exactly the same images of females in the media? (Not Pocahontas, of course, but a lot of the ads they showed.)
It bothers me that kids are constantly bombarded with images of sex, and that it often seems like that's all they get out of the media. Yay for consumer culture.
The problem with abstinence education is that it's so confusing... like the video. Should we idolize Jessica Simpson for marrying Nick Lachey, or abhor her for getting divorced and sexing up her image? Who knows?! Either way, they were just trying to sell us something.
Actually, so was the video. I wonder if abstinence education is just a conspiracy in the jewellery industry to sell more purity rings or whatever they're called.
This video definitely made me want to engage in premarital sex with hot lesbians. They definitely picked some awesome lesbianism for it.
I watched the video without sound (it doesn't work on this computer) so I only got the images. However, it was still very clear which ones were marked as "bad" vs. the ones touted as "good."
That said, I thought the video was horrid. Not to mention incredibly ambiguous. Some of the images they used to represent the "oversexualized media" they're condemning were just women in mildly revealing clothing (showing leg, cleavage, midriffs)--nothing extreme. So they're, what, advocating that women should only be depicted dressed in nun's habits or burkhas or something? Huh? And what was up with that shot in the "bad/sexy" group of a man and woman standing near each other and exchanging a glance? Why was that unacceptable when some of the "acceptable married couple" images contained actual physical contact? Is it only acceptable for a woman to stand next to a man when she's either wearing a veil, holding a baby (presumably his), or looking at a sunset? I can't help wondering if that one image was on the "bad" list because the man was black and the woman was white?
And apparently the word "sex" is also unacceptable? I wonder what they call it instead? "Marital relations" maybe...?
I'm inclined to agree that there's too much sexual imagery in the media, particularly in inappropriate context (underage teenage pop stars depicted in videos dressed and acting like porn stars, sexual imagery being used to sell food, etc.)--and I've always disapproved of the apparent underlying message of "Grease" that tarting yourself up and putting out is the key to happiness--but for the most part the images these people chose make them seem downright Puritanical. Disney for heaven's sake? Frankly, it looked more like a sly condemnation of things like homosexuality and interracial relationships to me. I'll have to watch it on my other computer with the sound on and see if they seem less like fanatical wingnuts that way...
Is this video something that a highschooler did for a project? I couldn't stop giggling when the picture of Big Ben came up on the screen.
