Good cause, scary ad.

I must say this is pretty funny. UCLA is conducting a workshop on gender in computing, and this is their ad for it. While I don’t doubt the workshop itself will kick ass, what better exemplifies gender in computing than Barbie and Mortal Combat?

So, in other words, the ad perfectly exemplifies the attitudes that the workshop will examine.
Yeah, that's frickin' hilarious, I guess. You know, just the other day, I open a computer magazine and all the ads inside had pictures of computers! Isn't that funny, too? That all the ads were totally "computers!" even though they were ads for computers?
Actually, it's a pun on the title of a very prominent books written on the subject of women in video games is title "From Barbie to Mortal Kombat"...
Ah, okay. Now it makes more sense, thanks for clearing that up, E.
And Chet, my apologies that the post failed to amuse you! I suppose I just feel that while the purpose of the workshop was to go beyond Barbie and Mortal Combat, I thought it was funny that they used them for the main image of the ad. Not to mention the pics in the ad sort of creeped me out.
