DRC: Soldiers sentenced for rape and crimes against humanity

Some good news out of the Democratic Republic of the Congo: seven soldiers who were charged in the rape of 119 girls have been sentenced to life in prison. In addition, the state has (somewhat) admitted responsibility in the attacks and will be compensating the victims.

This is a drop in the bucket. When you compare the battle of feminism in North America to the situations in other parts of the world (and especially the DRC) the progress we've yet to make is overwhelming. So I'm not surprised that this news hasn't drawn many comments...it's so much easier for us to sit back and argue about semantics.
