Feminists eat puppies

That might as well be the title of Kate O'Beirne’s new anti-feminist book. Instead the former vice president of the Heritage Foundation (so you know it’s going to be good) decided to go with a slightly more verbose title: Women Who Make the World Worse and How Their Radical Feminist Assault Is Ruining Our Schools, Families, Military, and Sports.

Oh is that all? Damn, ladies; we need to step it up! So many institutions to destroy, so little time.

Pet peeve: can somebody trademark Radical Feminism so that there right-wing assholes stop misusing the term? I'm not a radical feminist, but I do know what the term means, and it isn't "any woman to the left of Grover Norquist." They just like it because they use it as an epithet to mean "extreme."

Women are destroying sports? I thought it was inflated salaries and egos of male players and intense commercialization that were destroying sports. Or was it the mere existence of the WNBA that made the American men's team suck at the last Olympics?

No, No! You have that wrong! We feminists eat fetuses, not puppies! ;)

I'm flattered that she thinks we feminists are so all consumingly powerful. Families, Schools, Military...

Next, we ruin: the UN, the Moon, and Christmas.

If by her definition 'ruin' means what we see as 'improve' then we must be doing a pretty darn good job :).

All of which are fucked up beyond belief already, and we are trying to repair. Of course, to someone who doesn't think they're ruined because she only gives a damn about their effect on men, it might seem like they're being "ruined," i.e. reworked to do something other than serve men and the patriarchy at everyone else's expense.

I stopped watching sports years ago because all of the commercialism drove the prices up so high that the typical, working class people that supported their teams so loyally for so long can no longer afford to go to the games. Personal seat licenses, stadiums being paid for by our tax dollars with profits going to the primary corporate sponsors... what the hell does any of that have to do with feminism? What is this woman smoking?
