Time magazine can’t get enough oral.
A Teen Twist on Sex takes on a new government report that shows despite the lovely scare tactics of abstinence-only education, kids are still having the sex. Especially the mouthy kind.
Not new information, I know. But I just wanted to point this little tidbit out:
More than half the adolescents surveyed, for example, said they had engaged in oral sex (and their claims are fairly credible, since the questions were posed not face to face by an adult interviewer but through a specially designed computer program). That proportion was about the same among boys and girls. And although you may assume that girls mostly perform and boys receive, the numbers show the give and take is again about equal.
I’m not saying this in a creepy I-like-teen-girls way, but damn did that make me happy (assuming the stats are correct). I’m so sick of people talking about teen sex in a way that assumes girls are being taken advantage of somehow, as if they’re just running around doling out blow jobs without reciprocation. So long as everyone is being safe and enjoying themselves--what’s the problem?
My true fave part of the article though was a quote by a teenage girl attempting a guess at why same-sex encounters are on the rise among girls: “At least another girl isn't always trying to push her penis into you.” Ha!

JesusJones - I think that a lot of people make that assumption. There are a lot of guys (and more than a few women) who think it's icky 'down there.' I'm glad to hear that teenage boys are wising up to the joys of... um... crimes against nature :-)

JJ, regardless of whether you buy togolosh's (perfectly plausible) analysis, I've seen a LOT of people on the internet make that assumption, or at least speculate about it.
Here's why: conventional wisdom says that teenage girls want teenage males' approval, and will use sex to get it. Therefore, blowjobs abound. Now, hapily conventional wisdom appears to (once again) be full of shit, but it's still a VERY common perception.

I have to agree with togolosh.
Just from my personal experience growing up (of course it was in the bible belt) I found that many boys and girls believed that oral sex on a guy was a normal dating activity, but oral sex on a girl was somehow gross.
I heard many guys make jokes about the anatomy of girls and how it smells or tastes and most of the other girls I knew were horrified about the idea of a boy doing that to them.
I do hope it's changing. More men need to practice and learn the art of good oral sex. What a great way to make a women infatuated with you ;)
And more women/girls need to learn that there is nothing gross about their genitals and how good oral sex can be.
Of course on a side note, if the first guy or two tries it and does it really badly, it might make you scared to let another guy do it ever again.
