Americans want kids to be stupid
This is so fucking depressing:
In a finding that is likely to intensify the debate over what to teach students about the origins of life, a poll released yesterday found that nearly two-thirds of Americans say that creationism should be taught alongside evolution in public schools.The poll found that 42 percent of respondents held strict creationist views, agreeing that "living things have existed in their present form since the beginning of time."
Sigh. Who the hell are these respondents? I’m going to go cry into my ice coffee now.

what i find so depressing is the state of education in this country... and, of course, the future of that education.
we have generations of morons who were never instilled with a healthy sense of what 'evidence,' 'proof,' and 'hypothoses' mean... and, now, this uneducated mass of people in the middle of the country are deciding how to present education to the coming generations...
dang... i know, i must sound mad elitist, but, i guess, in some ways, i am. i can't really pretend i'm as dumb as the people who elected the idiot son of an asshole into the highest office in the land. i'm not saying i'm the sharpest knife in the drawer, but i certainly don't believe that G-D put fossils in the ground to test our faith!
also, what form of creationism do you think this is going to take? are our children going to be taught that the krsna consciousness guided evolution? i don't think so. i think there'll be 'all children left behind part two' with a fear-inspiring, homophobic, violent god saying "do not look behind the curtain"... dang...
