The AP reports that Oregon (just barely) passed a bill yesterday requiring that parents be notified before their child has an abortion. Cause teens don't have rights, of course.
While the bill does include an "opt-out" for teens with abusive parents, check out the hoops they have go through to qualify:
Teens who did not want to notify their parents of the abortion would have the option of having a confidential hearing with a lawyer hired by the state Department of Human Services, who would then determine whether the teen should be exempt from notification rules. Teens could be exempt if girl is determined to be "mature and capable of giving informed consent," or if it was in her best interest not to tell the parents, as in cases of abuse.
I'm sorry, but could they make this any harder on young women? If abused teens have to disclose their abuse to the state, how likely are they going to be to seek a legal, safe abortion? Yeah, I know it's confidential, but once a teen hears "state department," it's all over.

I'd be very interested in a non-partisan study that gave actual numbers about how many girls that get abortions really come from "abusive" families.
How do you propose to do that study?
One problem about that is no one ever informs young women that judicial bypass is an option.
I say if a girl tempts her father into raping her and the slut gets pregnant, she should have to have the baby!
Stop yer BS....90% of abortions are not medically neccessary or the result of rape(not including statutory) or incest.

Your definition of "necessary" and mine are very, very different.
This is a very grave issue, it undermines the family and the very fabric of our society.
If the government will not laud the bible and protect the God sanctioned powers that a father has over his children, then we obviously need a new government that will do so.
Abortion except in the case of rape and serious health risks (a few other rare circumstances) ought to be treated as first degree murder.
25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing.
21.3% of women cannot afford a baby.
14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child.
12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy.)
10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career.
7.9% of women want no (more) children.
3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health.
2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health.
What I gather from that is that only 6.1% of abortions are for legitimate issues.
If a woman doesn't want kids or thinks that kids may disrupt her life, the easiest way to avoid having to be faced with the issue of having a kid is simply not spread the legs.
It's hard to get pregnant if you're not actively having sex...
