Up yours, South Dakota
This is just fucking awesome.
In response to the South Dakota abortion ban, Cecilia Fire Thunder, President of the state's Oglala Sioux tribe, has said that she "will personally establish a Planned Parenthood clinic on my own land which is within the boundaries of the Pine Ridge Reservation where the State of South Dakota has absolutely no jurisdiction."
If you want to show your support--financial or otherwise--click here for Fire Thunder's contact info.

Definitely great news.
The anti-choice forces have noticed this, of course. They mention what appears to be a front group called Indians for Life that they may use to try to undermine this victory.
I was fucking ecstatic when I read the news. After a response from Planned Parenthood, though, it doesn't look like the clinic will open. I just posted this news and some relevant and reliable sources in my blog, along with other ways to follow Fire Thunder's example, to work with PP and fight the ban-- thought I'd give you a heads up. And thanks for continuing to be awesome.
I am a 58 year old grandmother in Texas and I applaud Cecelia Fire Thunder. I will be sending a contribution and spreading the word about her efforts on behalf of all women.
In honor of Cecilia Fire Thunder's efforts, KLove's tolerance of my y-chromosome and in the name of protecting the reproductive rights of women everywhere, I'll help fund the Oglala Sioux Clinic, too!
Hail to the Goddess Fire Thunder!
I am Klove's daughter in Texas. Mom taught me right about the sovereignty of a woman's body. I am passing the info to everyone I know and am making a contribution also!
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!
